PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Our new season is about to begin with a wonderful luncheon on Monday, October 10th at Poplar Creek Grill, Coyote Point.  Invitations have gone out.  Please respond as soon as possible.  Our professional musicians have been identified, and our students and artists are being procured. 
In November it’s back to the Woman’s Club House, 241 Park Road, on the second Monday of each month November through May at 1:00 pm.
Thanks to Susan Fraumeni and Carol Karcher, all board positions are filled for the season.

 This season’s competition is for students of voice – ages 15 through 20 and for students of brass and wind instruments ages 14 through 18.  Applications have been mailed to High School and College Music Departments and Music Teachers – and as usual are “slowly” being returned.  If you go to our website – www.burlingamemusicclub.net you can view (or download) a copy of the application.   You might even see a photo of yourself if you “click” on photos!  It is always a pleasure to welcome these talented young students beginning with the November 14th  program meeting.

You will be delighted with the diversified group of professional performers for the season.  In November Renee Lubin, Beach Blanket Babylon artist, will be performing
Jazz Standards with Dr. Dee Spencer, piano, a Drummer and a Bass player; December will be the Cabrillo Trio – piano, violin and cello; January 9 – Franklin Davis, trumpet and Dr. Margaret Barshell, piano; February 13 – Ekholm Trio – bassoon, flute and piano; March 12 – Celtic Sands – harp, archguitar, fiddle and vocalist.  The Aurio Trio - Karen Hutchinson, piano, Rufus Olivier, bassoon, and Zachariah Spellman, tuba will perform on April 9.  Do come and
enjoy!

If you haven’t already sent in reservations for the October 10th BMC Fundraiser Luncheon you’d better hurry! Monday, October 3 is the deadline. To set the mood for this year’s theme – Sounds of the Islands – come in your most colorful attire to blend in with the table décor.  Poplar Creek Grill has a lovely atmosphere – look UP to view planes – look OUT on the greens – look DOWN at the delicious luncheon being served.  Many gifts and gift certificates have been received for the “Opportunity Drawing” and you will delight in the afternoon’s entertainment by Mary Spalding.  See you on the 10th!!
